About this data source
Rijkswaterstaat is the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, which measures waves along the Dutch coast. In The Buoy, this source covers Netherlands.
What this source publishes
Rijkswaterstaat says it has nine buoys along the Dutch coast, six of them far offshore so that the seabed does not affect the measurement; they provide wave height, period and direction. The data is used for coastal protection, the design of flood defences, flood forecasting and shipping, and wave height is published on Waterinfo under an "open unless" open-data principle.
