Waimea Bay buoy: live swell
Waimea Bay, on the North Shore of Oahu, is the birthplace of big-wave surfing: it only breaks on the biggest winter swells, and it is home to the Eddie Aikau. The Waimea buoy measures the swell as it arrives; buoy 51001, far offshore, sees it go by several hours earlier.
